Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686 on x86_64; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130511120803 Steps to reproduce: I manually set links on my home screen. FF shows a gray rectangle in the top right corner of that link's preview image. The long-tab menu of that link changes to "change; remove from home screen; remove". Actual results: After syncing with a desktop FF, my links are overridden with pages I use often on that desktop installation. The gray rectangles are gone and the long-tab menu changes to the default. Expected results: I want to keep my manually set links.
Oh, with "gray rectangles" of course I mean gray triangles.
Pinning a site (having opt-in via long-press on a thumbnail) on about:home should keep it pinned. As far as I'm aware, syncing should not alter the configuration of pinned sites as determined by a user, if not, then we have a problem. Do you have any steps to reproduce? I assume you pinned a site prior to a Sync, after a Sync you checked back on about:home, and your pinned sites we're replaced? Were the new sites pinned?

Fixed in 23: Bug 858992. We could uplift that to 22…
