EARLY_BETA_OR_EARLIER (from bug 853071) doesn't work for the JS build at the moment because JS's configure doesn't have the relevant logic (sourcing defines.sh, AC_SUBST/AC_DEFINEing the variable, etc.).

Was this fixed by moving to python configure? I see uses of EARLY_BETA_OR_EARLIER in JS code nowadays.
