User should be able to see the breakdown of what is consuming internal storage space so that they understand what applications are consuming space and adjust usage accordingly. Without this feature, it's impossible for users to know in what areas they need to free up space in low storage situations. Should be expanded to include the ability to delete certain types of data, ie. delete all your music to make extra space. Currently it is not descriptive enough and there is no easy ability to delete exactly what is taking up a lot of space.

Hi Rob, this was one of the bugs added to our UX backfill Visual Design list. I agree that currently the media storage screen (in settings) isn't very detailed. It would be nice to add more options and detailed information to the user, what do you think? It would be great to start work on this soon :). Thanks!

Changing the needinfo to Neo since this now falls under Settings/System Back-end. Neo, Casey is sending you an email about this bug about prior work that he (Casey) did.

Hi Neo, is this being worked on in another bug? Will this be part of 1.3?

Hi Evelyn, I think maybe you can explain why we can not show storage status in detail from software view point.
Flags: needinfo?(nhsieh) → needinfo?(ehung)
As I know, we don't know a certain type of data belongs to which app, neither can tell how much data an application has. I guess we don't have data-app relationship recorded in system? ni Dave to know Gecko support. I'm also thinking the feature shouldn't be in Settings but another app like "File Manager" or something.

For internal storage (i.e. /data) I believe that it should be possible to determine usage per-app, although there is also data which is shared (settings indexed-db, contacts indexed-db, etc.) For media storage (i.e. internal or external sdcard), the storage is shared, and not "per-app".
