We used to manually hide about:home from being listed on about:home, but now that we have no awesomescreen and about:home is the only place to see bookmarks, it doesn't make sense to have that bookmark exist at all. Aside: Do we want to delete this bookmark from existing user DBs in a migration to the new about:home? I think we should start a list of possible data migrations we'll want to do.
