Cannot save the web site as Non-Ascii file name on Win2k US. Steps of reproduce 1. Go to http://home.netscape.com/ja 2. Select menu File|Save as 3. Use Japanese IME to type some Japanese file name in the Save File dialog You can type the Japanese characters. However, after click Save button, the Japanese file name in Saving file process dialog are displayed as "??". And, the Alert dialog "There was an error writing to the target location." will show up. Tested 6-26-06.0.9.2 Win32 build on Win2kUS.

This does not work with 4.x and 6.0. Move to futrue. Reassign to yokoyama.

I know this never worked in 4.x and 6.0, but the users for US system with language pack need this.

I tried this with 6-28 0.9.2 Mac build on Mac 9.0 US with Japanese Language pack. In save as dialog, when I type Japanese characters for file name, the Japanese characters are displayed as garbage. And, the saving process dialog, the Japanese file name are displayed as garbage. However, Netscape saved it without any problems.

This is 2 issue. - XPCOM/IO does not use Unicode API. - Mozilla use OpenFileDialogA (not Unicode API. this is same as bug 84384).

On win2k and nt, since the file system is unicode base, we may have a chance to save the file name into non ACP file name.

Marking nsbranch- as it was decided in the August bug triage that we wouldn't have eenough time in eMojo to fix this. Let's revisit for MachV.
