In mailnews urls in a mail are recognized and made clickable. It would be nice to have this in browser too. Lot's of sites, especially news sites using poor publishing systems, have urls within a text but have not made them into links. Mozilla should recognize those and make them into links. I'm not sure how they should be represented visually. Maybe they could get the link color only when mousing over them, combined with a special cursor to indicate that they are not normal links.
this *must* be invalid! html is html. There might be a reason to not make a link clickable.
Yes, there might be, but that doesn't stop me from performing the tedious task of selecting the url, copying, pasting into the url bar and clicking "go". That is what I'd like to make easier. Compromise: How about a right-click option saying something like "go to selected". If the selected text is an url it is treated as such. If it is a mail adress it performs a mailto. If it is neither the text is submitted for a search.
There's already a go that talks about the "go to selected url"
