Web/App developers are getting more and more control over the network (WebSocket, Wifi API, PeerConnection with WebRTC, etc.), so we need more and more to have one place to find all the information related to all networking protocols/technologies.
This would be a part of the doc to talk about HTTPS (bug 878475) as well as introduce what a MAC address is (I recently linked to the Wikipedia page for a MAC address while documenting the Wifi API), etc.
