using commercial branch build 2001070204 linux.
In an existing profile I created pop account as my second account. I clicked on
get msg button once. This brings up the password dlg and after giving the
password I did not have to click on get msg again to get the mail. It retrieved
all the message right after password validation. marking worksforme.
Reporter,
Download more recent build and try again.

Downloaded 2001070204 brought up e-mail client, get automatic dialog asking for
my password. Enter it, no messages when there is definitely a test message
waiting. Hit Get message and messages load. Old 4.7x netscape client didn't
require hitting Get message from the password dialog so I assume that this is
abnormal behavior.

reporter,
Are you seeing this with existing profile or a new profile?

Existing profile converted from .netscape. Big one too, with a few thousand
e-mails.

Reporter,
We have a new preference added on to N6.x called "check for new mail at start up"
This is turned on for all the default accounts. So when this is turned on the
password dlg appears and after authentication it puts a green arrow if it finds
a new message on the server and does not download the mail. This is according
to how it is defined in the new specs.
If you also want the new message to be downloaded. Go into your server settings
and check the preference" Automatically download any new messages".
I just tested this if you have this preference checked then the messages get
downloaded after you give the password and you don't have to click on get mssg
again.
I know in 4.x we did not have the new pref and even to get the pssword dlg you
had to click on get mssg button.

I see the little green arrow now. Subtle. Perhaps a little too subtle? Thanks
for explaining all of this.
