Details
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20130625 Firefox/25.0
Build ID: 20130625031238
Performing a search in the URL bar after a number that does not start with "0" fails (you get the Unable to connect page).
This behavior is not encountered in Chrome.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch Firefox.
2. Load bugzilla.mozilla.org, click the search provider button in the search bar, and click "Add Bugzilla@Mozilla".
3. Search using the search bar, URL bar, and about:home page for "738818".
Expected results:
With the implementation of the new search preferences feature (see Bug 738818), all three searches should lead to Bug 738818 page and use the provider selected in the Search Bar.
Actual results:
When searching in the URL bar - the "Unable to connect page" is received.
This behavior is encountered ever since Firefox 4 and reproduces regardless the search engine that is selected in the Search bar.
If the search is done for a number that starts with 0 (e.g: 058523) then the search is performed.
Note:
Reproducible also on Firefox 22 RC, on Firefox 23 beta 1 and on the latest Aurora.
