Str:
1. Launch Firefox.
2. Go to about:config.
3. Change browser.search.defaultenginename to a an accepted search engine, but write its name without respecting their lower/upper case (e.g. "yahoo" instead of "Yahoo", "ebay" instead of "eBay" etc).
This preference should not be case sensitive. As a user, the first thought I had when trying with "yahoo" was that the pref does't work at all. Luckily, I did think to try with the case sensitive version too.
I believe preferences are case-sensitive by design. Please reopen if this is incorrect.

Yes, but more importantly the use case of someone manually editing about:config to switch engines isn't one we care to support.
