I installed the Java .xpi as root, and now every time I try to start Mozilla
either as a user or as root, it says, "The program must close to allow a
previous installation attempt to complete. Please restart." I have rebooted
and made sure Mozilla's not running, and I still get the message. I labeled
this critical because it's preventing me from evens starting the browser.
I ran the executable directly (/usr/local/mozilla/mozilla) instead of the
shell script I made to run it for me, and that somehow fixed the problem, even
when I use the script, for reasons I don't understand.

this is annoying, the bulid script should at least explain what it's doing, or
we should relnote it. -- this might be a dupe

I've had this problem in Linux for the last month's worth of builds, but thought
it was a dupe of another bug. Go to a website with java (like
www.chargedair.com) and then download the plugin and exit the browser. The next
two times you try to start mozilla you get that error message in a dialog box.
The third time mozilla works fine and is that way forever (until you remove
mozilla and install the next day's build of course). Another way besides
starting mozilla three times I've found is to kill the xpicleanup process after
exiting mozilla, it seems to hang around even after mozilla quits. This happens
everytime, every build on two of my Linux boxes and two of my friends with Linux
boxes. BTW, I start mozilla with mozilla/mozilla.
