User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:22.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/22.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130618035212 Steps to reproduce: Followed suggestions here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-automatically-making-connections and here http://kb.mozillazine.org/Connections_established_on_startup_-_Firefox Disabled "Show Search Suggestions" in the "Manage Search Engine" in the Search Bar Menu. After doing the above, used Wireshark to test and see if Firefox was making any connections. Noticed a connection was made if something was typed in the Search Bar to the search provider even before the Enter key was pressed to send the search. Tested various different search provider extensions from Amazon to Wikipedia and the same thing happened. This is unexpected. For example, if Google was selected at an earlier time and someone typed anything into the Search Bar before they could switch search providers, it would be too late as Firefox would have already sent some kind of request to Google. Actual results: Wireshark shows a connection being made to the search provide BEFORE the Enter key was pressed. Uncertain what kind of connection is being made but a connection is being made. Expected results: No connection should have be made until Enter is pressed otherwise unintended connection may be made to an unwanted search provider.
Likely Instant Search making connection attempts.
