Steps to reproduce:

Likely not relevant; but for completeness: Running Windows7/64 under VirtualBox on Linux (running for a few days -- Nightly on this VM is updated only when I need to use it).

Started Nightly.
Help->About
Update downloading (7/9/13 version)
Restart
Update downloading (7/14/13 version)
Restart




Actual results:

Downloaded interim version, only to download current version, wasting time & bandwidth.


Expected results:

Download latest only.

Can you verify if it'll happen again?
I've tested on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20130722 Firefox/25.0 starting from the same initial version you reported (2013-07-09 version) and it has downloaded once until the current build (25.0a1 (2013-07-22))

Rebooted Win7 a couple days ago.  Just now, started Nightly 25.0a1 (2013-07-19) and it downloaded an update; restarted. Now running 25.0a1 (2013-07-22) which is latest.  Will check again in couple of days...
