Our API spec says we should support it and I see some workaround code in gaia that doesn't look too pretty.

Just dropping a note: this bug is aimed for getting, bug 779381 is aimed for setting.
FxOS/Gonk has been removed from the codebase. Mass-invalidating FxOS related Device Interface bugs to clean up the component. If I incorrectly invalidated something, please let me know.
