For the moment, the buttons are "edit" or "delete". If one wants to share a project and does not remember the URL, it's complicated. Click on edit and copy the URL without the "/edit". If one wants to get the code to embed the project on a HTML page, it's worse: edit the project and then publish (thus creating a new remix) and get the code for the iframe. There should be a "share" button on every project, proposing either the URL or the code to embed directly from the "my makes" page.
I agree that we need a better way to expose sharing from this page. This obviously means the Project Editor in Popcorn Maker needs some work, but you don't need to resave your project to have that embed code accessible. As long as you don't make any changes after load it is accessible (which, this itself will probably change as well).
OK, thank you for this information. It's better than creating a new remix, indeed. But it's really important that we make sharing easy for webmakers, so that they can tweet their makes, put them on facebook, send them by mail, embed them in a blog post... It can be done with the current version of webmaker. But on almost every website you can share anything very easily (via buttons, links...) and people are used to it.
Kate, can you triage this?

Moving this to be discussed in UX
Assignee: nobody → cassie
Separate implementation bugs will need to be filed for each tool, but this makes sense as an overall UX exercise, to think about how users share the things they've created on webmaker.org. Let's try to get the design done at least in the next train. This is important b/c might play an important role in helping us get to 10k. Assigning to Luke b/c there may be some overlap in this bug with how we iterate on Profile.

Moving to [nov30] - haven't made any progress on this. Would like a bit of clarity here as well. Seems like this bug is referring to a way to share from the /me page, or the generic tiled list of makes, although this is meant to be replaced the the makes tab in the profile page, correct? Appmaker specifically doesn't have a way to get to this list view from the app, it just has a list of apps you've made inside of a dropdown. To me it seems like we need 3 things: * A way to share each make from the profile page tab of makes * A way to share each make during the publishing process within each app * We can standardize this between apps, currently the publishing process isn't 100% consistent * A way to share each make from the app that you're working on outside of the publishing process Cassie, does this seem about right to you? * Should we split these into separate tasks? * Will we be updating the /me page that some apps currently link to or focus on the profile? Thanks!

Putting this bug on hold until it is part of a clearer priority.

I'm going to close this bug as the scope of this work is no longer relevant, given the new product plan. Let's cross this bridge when we get there with the new tool/product.
