Verified as fixed on the latest Nightly build. In snapped view, non-thumbnail tiles show no background images.

Please see the attachement for the current display of this issue, with the latest Nightly (build ID: 20130820030206), on a Win 8 64bit machine, tested for iteration #12.

I assume the thumbnails being there is expected, right?

Your attachment shows the favicons in the snapped-view tiles. Those same tiles have screenshot thumbnails in full/non-snapped view. This is the correct behaviour.
