Having OpenSearch database in the System App living as a Data Store would enable third party to provide search results when using multiple apps. Currently the apps I have in mind are the browser, homescreen and keyboard but more may want to use that.

Would we need a generic API for web apps to access that central store?
Note that if we do, we could easily implement the same on desktop and Android, I guess.

My prototype already saves open search results to async storage in the home screen app. I should probably take this.

Right now we only have open search in the browser, which is being migrated to the system app. Our direction has changed greatly since filing this bug, so I think it makes sense to close this and file a new bug if needed.
