From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.2) Gecko/20010628 BuildID: 2001062815 Go to the Real site and try to download RealPlayer 8 Basic (the free player). This will require that you fill out a form, and select a download site. I selected Seattle, WA. After I clicked on the Seattle, WA link, I am brought to a page with what appears to be an applet. I am prompted to "Grant" or "Deny" permission to this applet. I select "Grant". The dialog box goes away, but now the browser seems to be in some type of loop. The cursor of the browser starts to flicker rapidly when over the download animation. Nothing is ever downloaded. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to Real's website (www.real.com) 2. Click on "Download Free Player" on the lower right of the page. 3. There is a small link in the middle of the page for "RealPlayer 8 Basic" - click on that. 4. Fill out the download form. 5. Select one of the "Seattle, WA" links. 6. You will be prompted to "Grant" or "Deny" access to the installer app. Choose "Grant". The problem described abover should now occur. Actual Results: The browser never downloads RealPlayer 8. It instead gets in a loop of some sort and I have to kill it using the Windows Task Manager. Expected Results: The browser should download RealPlayer 8 and install it.
andrei, is the realplayer on the website even supposed to work with 6.x ? Since real has not come up with anXPcom plugin for 6.x (on their site), I wonder if this is invalid ?
Well, we do pick it up from the 4.x installation, so it is supposed to work, less scriptability. I doubt the installer will recognize 6.x though. This bug needs confirmation, I was able to download it successfully with yesterday's trunk build.
by chance..i tried downloading the installer for realplayer 8 basic with today's branch bits ..and it did install (in 4.x)..so the install worked fine..i didn't see any loop Bryan mentions...
Same bug here, Win2k, Build 2001062815 Page keep on loading (Loading what?), average 0.15 sec/load, 100% cpu usage, and Mozilla crashed when I tryed to close the page. I don't have the incident number yet (talkback can't connect) but ill attach it.
