From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; en-US; rv:0.9.2) Gecko/20010628
BuildID: 2001062823

When I receive messages, sent with "Sent Later", they are indicated with an icon
- envelope with green arrow and their titles are not bold.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compose a short email message to yourself.
2. Click "Send Later" menu item. The message is now in folder "Unsent Messages"
of a "Local folders" account.
3. Select folder in different account and click "File/Send Unsent Messages" menu
item. Be sure the folder "Unsent Messages" is empty now.
4. compose message to yourself and send it with "Sent Now".
5. Receive both messages.

Actual Results: Received messages are displayed differently.

Expected Results: Received messages should be displayed in the same way.

I looked at the messages source, but did not find any meaningful differences
between them.
Found one, probably meaningful, difference in the messages headers - the message
sent with "Sent Later" has two fields X-Mozilla-Status. The second entry does
not exist in messages, sent with "Sent Now" and is:
X-Mozilla-Status: 0801
Wow, this is reproducable for me too. It's madness.

1. Compose a new message to yourself.
2. Choose File|Send Later
3. Choose File|Send Unsent Messages
4. GetMsgs

There are very strange results. Your inbox's text gets bold, but it doesn't
display a count. You'll get 2 instances of the msg you just sent, both of them
not bold (although they are new) and they both have the little green biff arrow
on them, which won't disappear once the msg has been read.

Very, very weird results indeed!

I mean, how can the messages sent with Send Unsent Messages be so special-cased
that they totally screw up our app upon receiving?

Putterman, I strongly suggest a high priority on this bug.

Summary: Messages, set with "Send Later" are indicated differently upon receiving → Messages, sent with "Send Later" are indicated differently upon receiving
fyi. In Hakan's comments he mentions "You'll get 2 instances of the msg you just
sent,..." There is a bug from another regression that causes
messages that are 'sent later' to duplicate based on the number of mail
accounts you have currently set up. Please see bug 89150.

also i will update to today's build but on fridays trunk window build
2001070604, I'm not seeing the differences between send later messages
and send now. Will test today's trunk builds on all 3 platforms and post
my results.
Using commercial trunk builds:
2001-07-09-09-trunk/ NT 4.0
2001-07-09-08-trunk/ linux 2.2 red hat 7.0
2001-07-09-08-trunk/ mac os 9.0.4

I don't see this problem. I think the weirdness reported
might have been due to the regression in bug 89150.

I tested with Messenger server 4.15, imap account, and
both modern and classic themes.

Tried 3 test cases (on all platforms)

1) Andriy's test case
  Wasn't sure in step 4:
"compose message to yourself and send it with "Sent Now".
If you are sending from the 2nd mail account or the first mail account?
  So tested both situations.
In both cases, the send later and send now messages both have
green arrow, green dot, and are in bold.

2)Testing send later while offline
-online, send a mesg to yourself
  -go offline
-compose a new mesg and click send later
  -go online
  - say yes send unsent mesgs at the window prompt
  -do a get mesg

The send later and send now messages both have
green arrow, green dot, and are in bold.

3)Test case 3
-online, compose a message (have inbox folder selected)
  -File|Send Later that message
  -File|Send Unsent Messages
  -Click Get Mesg
-with Inbox folder still selected (but DON'T select any mesage including the
   new one):
-received the "send later" message, its got green arrow, green dot, & bold
-Compose a new message to yourself
  -click send now
  -Click Get Mesg

Notice green arrow gets transferred from previous 'send later mesg' to
the new 'send now mesg'. But both messages are still bold and both have
  green dot.

Reporter please try a more recent build or if you were using branch builds
let me know and I'll test it out. Again I think the weirdess was due
to that other regression bug that has since been fixed on the trunk.

I am going to mark this as resolved works for me.

I tried this with yesterday's build, as commented and could reproduce it.

Let me retry with today's build to see if it makes any difference.
See bug 17943.
Tried on the most recent build for Linux - 2001070921.
I could reproduce the problem on fresh account.
The message sent with "Send Later" does not have bold title, the green arrow
which does not go away after I view the message, the "Inbox" folder new messages
count does not count it.

BTW, before I always got 1 instance of the message. I have two accounts.
Reporter, I tried 2001-07-09-21-trunk/ commercial builds
on linux 2.2, red hat 7.0. I still don't see the problem.
I tried switching themes, converting a 4.x profile, using profile
mgr to create a brand new profile, and blowing away my ./mozilla
directory and starting fresh. I still don't see it.

Did you try a new .mozilla directory? Is it just your test
case that send later doens't work? Did any of my test cases
produce the same results?

Hakan or anyone else see this problem?
One more question for the Reporter. You are using an IMAP account
correct? If it is a pop account, then see Laurel's comments on
2001-07-09 16:16. What type of mail server are you using?

I use POP account.
I looked at bug 17943, mentioned by Laurel, it seems the same issue.
The messages indication is not completely as for "read" messages - they have
different icon - with green arrow. Sorry I did not look the reference before.
Should I update bug 17943 with these data?
