Hi Sebastian and Michael, Thanks for taking on the task. These screenshots will be used in many marketing material, on the web, in videos and in collateral material used by our partners. Please observe the milestones to ensure we can get this completed on time: Aug 2: submit screenshots and/or provide translations to text in screenshots. Aug 3-15: review of implemented graphic works, provide translation corrections Aug 16: final signoff on graphics. Scope of Work: ============== 1). Source content to download: https://docs.google.com/a/mozilla.com/forms/d/1VkMv94ZX6qqd5XjaqNK4lMK3myMCYQUOc0f0Rgd1BUU/edit# 2). Screenshots of FFOS product in the forllowing target language; navigate between features. Familiarity of FFOS product/feature is a must 3). Options of either by (a)taking screenshots and upload them to a designated location (instruction will be provided). Certain branding specific logos or symbols will be removed by creative agency. Do NOT modify screenshot with photo editing tools before submission (b) providing translations to the creative agencies which will put them together. This is especially the case if a particular screen is still buggy and not ready for a screenshot. 4). Adhere to deadlines below, the earlier the better 5). Several rounds of reviews and corrections of finished artwork. Thank you, Peiying

German responses to the localization request as exported by Google Drive.
Hi Ma
Assignee: archaeopteryx → Mnovak
hi Matej and Grace, I assign the bug to you to continue to the next step. Please download the file from comment 1. Apparently Sebastian couldn't upload it to the designated location. I think we may have the same issue for everyone. Please reply to my email to detail the exact steps from selecting locale to translation to uploading the file. Everyone will have the same issue. Thanks, Peiying
Hi All, The folder should be open and should be able to upload iamges: https://mozilla.box.com/s/8aqwo4xwthlv0flddbrh please try the link again and let me know if you continue to have problem. Reviewing the spreadsheet, I do see some screenshots in Box (but not in the folder.) that's okay for now. We can move them to the appropriate folder. Let me know how I can help!
HI All, Reviewing the response spreadsheet, it looks like we are just missing name of contacts and their workplace. Please update with the contact names. Thank yoU!
When I go on "Responses" > "Summary of responses", I can see that the information of people with workplaces has been put into the form. I can't access the "View all responses" menu item, likely because I use a different mail address on Google than here. I requested access for that one and will edit the form data after it has been granted.
Hi, I cant see it for some reason. What email should I grant access to?
Just gave you access.
Updated the screenshot urls, the fake contacts can be found at the end of the column list.

Hi Aryx, Could you please check the "contact" names to see if they fit these criteria. If not, please update the file or provide the names in this bug 1). 2 male names 2). 2 female names 3). sort by last name, and the alphabet sequence between the last names should be consecutive from one another. this will help us duplicate the images and fit the template we have. thanks, Peiying
Just to clarify the direction in comment 10, we need 2 male and 2 female names for each of three consecutive letters. So if you choose J, K and L, for example, we need a total of 12 names: 2 male names with last names that start with J 2 female names with last names that start with J 2 male names with last names that start with K 2 female names with last names that start with K 2 male names with last names that start with L 2 female names with last names that start with L The extras are to make sure we have the right photos to match with people for each locale. Thanks!
This will give us plenty of options to play with. I see that in the template, there are 10 slots so whatever you do will fit the bill, :). thank you!
I didn't find a possibility to load the old response into the form and modify it, so I edited it in the response list, but have 13 columns for 12 fake contacts, so I will also post the list here: K female Eva Kowalczyk / HU Berlin Helen Köhler / Katharinen-Krankenhaus male Hakan Kaner / Kaner Immobilien Markus Klopfer / PrivAD Werbung L female Stefanie Lietzow / Financial Trust Katrin Lobin / Niezelt-Verlag male Michael Landmann / Ingenieurbüro Dietz & Co. Björn Lechner / Dentaltechnik Mohn M female Sarah Menzer-Berg / Becker Automobile Jana Martin / Wrocez-IT male Hannes Mrozek / Augustus-Gymnasium Johann Miersch / Obermaier Baustoffe
Hi Michael and Sebastian, We finally put together the screenshots. Here are some important notes: The mocks can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7708742/FXOS_Screenshots_DE-Final.pdf A few things for them to note and look for: • They're not quite complete yet. We don't have a home screen, everything.me screen or browser screenshot. We're still working on solutions for these and they'll be coming separately. • We changed things a bit since we asked for translations, so things like the Music app may look different than expected. That's not a mistake. • Look for translation errors, typos, date format, punctuations, wrapping of text, shortening of text that doesn't mean anything bad or images that they don't think fit or work. Please provide review comment in a Spreadsheet, one column indicating the PDF page and the screen feature, one column on the incorrect text, one column with corrections. If a whole sentence is involved, provide the entire sentence to avoid possible copy/paste error. Let us know if any questions. Thanks, Peiying

I'll put some comments in here for Coce to integrate in his "official" feedback (or not, as he likes): Page 1: "Zusammenkunft mit der Familie" sounds strange to me. Something like "Familientreffen" sounds better to me there. Page 2: Typo: It's "Verbinden", without a "t". (Make sure the string matches what we have in the product L10n - for all product shots, including Marketplace) Page 3: It's unfortunate that all messages (that are not covered by something) are cut off, but I guess long phrases are the nature of German, so it might be fine. Page 11: The alignment of the date/time in the messages looks strange and random, whereas in the English versions there's good alignment by fixed whitespace in front of it. Page 12/13: It might actually make sense to have a German music title on there, though having a number of English ones is even expected and a positive thing in Germany (a good part of the German charts and other hits are English, but some in there are German, so that should be reflected). Also, on page 13, is "Last Tuesday" a proper name or a string that should be translated? The rest looks fine to me.

Added the need for a German title to the corrections (we provided fake artists and titles including German ones, but they didn't made it into the screenshots). "Last Tuesday" is the name of the song performed by "Vanessa Adelaide".

Hi all, Thanks so much for the quick feedback. I'll pass your comments on to the designer. Just a few comments and clarifications: We know about some of the small inconsistencies between these shots and the actual screens in the product. As they are, they've all been approved by the Firefox OS team, but we're also discussing which updates we should make for this round (there have been some changes to 1.1 since these screenshots were originally created). Thanks for pointing those out. It will help in those discussions. On the Music app, given timing and resources, we weren't able to add any local artist names (as it requires creating new album covers for each one). We may be able to revisit it in the future, but it just wasn't possible to do it for this round. We appreciate you coming up with names and apologize that we weren't able to use them. On the Map screen, this is consistent with the zoom level of the last round, which was approved by Nokia. Even though the English screens shows parks and water, not all of them did, like the Spanish one, for example: http://cl.ly/image/1Z3k2615291L Thanks again. This is extremely helpful.
Hello Archaeopteryx and Michael, Here is the edit that includes your comments in review 2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7mtsefuqs8jtm25/FXOS_Screenshots_DE-R3.pdf Having said that, there's a layout problem with the home screen (Page 7) that we know about and have to fix. Please consider this the final round of review. Whatever you found in this round, we will make the edit and send you the final work when done. Thank you very much, we are almost there! Peiying
Hi Peiying, > Here is the edit that includes your comments in review 2: > https://www.dropbox.com/s/7mtsefuqs8jtm25/FXOS_Screenshots_DE-R3.pdf Page 2: Current: "Verbinden" Should be: "Verbinden…" ("Verbinden" + ellipsis) The gap between the German text and the phone symbol is wider than in English, so maybe it has been replaced with a whitespace. The other pages look like expected. Coce, can you please also take a look?

Can you confirm that this is different in German than other languages? No other locales seem to have the ellipsis.
Yes, the ellpsis is on purpose. Quoting bug 588759 comment 1 (sorry, I didn't find any guide on this): "temporary or progress messages should end in ellipsis"

Does that mean this isn't a German-only issue? I ask because the screenshots were approved by the Firefox OS team and no one has mentioned the ellipsis before. If it's specific to German, we can change it. Otherwise we'll have to leave it for now (for consistency) and change them all later if necessary.
Just two thoughts: The quotation marks on page 3 (messages) seem to be US style (“…”), not German style („…“). If that looks the same way in Firefox OS it’s ok, otherwise I think it should be changed. The Top Sites screenshots on page 6 show English pages. At least for Firefox OS we have a German page (<http://www.mozilla.org/de/firefox/os/>). Should that be used? The rest looks fine to me. Thank you.

Similarly to the Music screens, we unfortunately don't have the time and resources to update the thumbnail images for each locale, but thanks for pointing that out.
(In reply to Matej Novak [:matej] from comment #23) > Thanks. Does that mean this isn't a German-only issue? From my point of view, it's an issue in the English version which we fixed by adding the ellipsis. You can remove it for consistency in the marketing materials without causing problems. And Coce discovered a different issue: The screenshots on page 3 (SMS) show the message content in quotes, but on the phone I don't see these quotes used. There is also one more deviation in that very screenshots from the product: Contacts without contact photo use the full line for the message, but in the screenshot, the space for the photo is still reserved and not used.
That made compare again the screenshots against in product and the phone number is displayed different: Page 2: There is a space in the phone number which is used the separate the operator part of the number from the remaining number. This is not done on the device where the whole number is shown as one block. Page 16: 1) On the phone, there is a free area below the phone number which is reserved for suggestions. This is missing on the screenshot. 2) Again the whitespace in the phone number on the screenshot.
Thanks for pointing all of this out. As the product evolves through different release versions, we may not always be able to keep up with creating new screenshots to match. We'll definitely make sure that these are reviewed by the appropriate people and make changes where necessary. As for the phone number format, can you let me know where it should be split? Thanks.
A phone number in national format (01710011223) should be shown as "0171 0011223" if the device would support it. This is mostly for styling because people can usually keep theirs phone numbers if they switch providers, so there is no reliable information about the operator in the phone number. For a landline number, this depends on the style where it shows up, I think "0333/3333-33" is the most common with 0333 for city, 3333 for the company and 33 for dialing through (?) to a person of that company.
(In reply to Archaeopteryx [:aryx] from comment #29) > A phone number in national format (01710011223) should be shown as "0171 > 0011223" I'm a little confused. Isn't that what we have in the screenshot? http://cl.ly/image/44062B130E1q
Yes, that's in the screenshot, but the real product doesn't use any separator when I type that number into the dialer.
(In reply to Archaeopteryx [:aryx] from comment #31) > Yes, that's in the screenshot, but the real product doesn't use any > separator when I type that number into the dialer. Got it, that's good to know. I think we'll leave it for now so it matches all the others, but I'll add it to the list of things to check on.
Thank you for the team work. We are officially done for this request. You will find the work of this request used in multiple marketing components. https://www.dropbox.com/s/unrcegsda6ggbug/FXOS_Screenshots_DE-FinalR2.pdf

We noticed some last minute changes and are curious where they came from. Changes: Eva Kowalczyk > Lisa Kaufmann Cafe > Café Selbst Barista > D.I.Y. Barista
(In reply to Archaeopteryx [:aryx] from comment #34) > We noticed some last minute changes and are curious where they came from. > > Changes: > Eva Kowalczyk > Lisa Kaufmann > Cafe > Café > Selbst Barista > D.I.Y. Barista Those all came from Valerie Ponell. Valerie, can you comment on the above? Thanks.
(In reply to Archaeopteryx [:aryx] from comment #34) > We noticed some last minute changes and are curious where they came from. > > Changes: > Eva Kowalczyk > Lisa Kaufmann Kowalczyk is a Polish name, that's why we would like to change this to a German name > Cafe > Café Café is the correct spelling in German > Selbst Barista > D.I.Y. Barista Selbst Barista does not make any sense and the app icon itself says D.I.Y. Barista, so would leave the name as it is orginally
(In reply to Valerie Ponell from comment #36) > (In reply to Archaeopteryx [:aryx] from comment #34) > > We noticed some last minute changes and are curious where they came from. > > > > Changes: > > Eva Kowalczyk > Lisa Kaufmann > > Kowalczyk is a Polish name, that's why we would like to change this to a > German name If it would be a Polish person, the name would likely be "Ewa Kowalczyk" ( https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eva_%28Vorname%29#Varianten ). Polish surnames are common in Germany since the immigration of Polish people during the industrialisation ( http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polen_in_Deutschland#Geschichte ). > > Cafe > Café > > Café is the correct spelling in German It's the correct spelling, but I don't expect a significant part of the users to type the é because that requires tapping the 'e' letter for long. > > Selbst Barista > D.I.Y. Barista > > Selbst Barista does not make any sense and the app icon itself says D.I.Y. > Barista, so would leave the name as it is orginally Agreed, the scarce space for names doesn't leave many choices, the app names in the search results are mostly not a perfect choice for internationalisation. "D.I.Y." will still require explanation to many people.
