When I tried logging in to mozillians.org with my @mozilla.com account it was impossible, I would type in the email, then the correct password, and it was accepted, then I was asked to login again.. and the cycle would never break...

Erik, can you add your browser info? There is a known issue with 3rd party cookies on some browsers that causes this exact behavior:
https://github.com/mozilla/vinz-clortho/issues/105
Also, while I'm not an authority on their triage process, I think the Identity team uses Github issues for bug tracking, so you might want to reach out in IRC at #identity with this question, too.

This happens to me as well on mozillians.org if I have 3rd party cookies disabled in Firefox. With them allowed, everything works fine.

Hey guys, you need to white-list login.mozilla.org if you have third-party cookies disabled and want to use a mozilla.com account with Persona.
Drop by #identity if you have other questions.

Is there any effort being made to make finding that little bit of information out a little less.. opaque? :)

Hey Andrei,
Sorry, I was a bit short in my earlier reply. I know this situation sucks, and we're working on it:
* We mentioned the third-party cookie exception in the weekly meeting yesterday[1]
* We've just added more useful messaging when this sort of error occurs[2], it'll hit production in about two weeks (FWIW the new message is, "This may be due to your browser blocking third-party cookies. Please ensure your browser's privacy preferences are set to accept third-party cookies for %(idpName)s and try again.")
* We've got a closed but theoretically searchable bug about LDAP troubles[3] in github, where Identity does its bug tracking
* Now we've got this bug[4] (ooh meta) that's theoretically searchable in Bugzilla
* We're working with wbamberg to figure out the best place(s) to document this in the constellation of wikis/intranets
* I'm working on a permanent fix for third-party cookies disabled, no bug # yet there.

I never want to allow third party cookies, and Persona worked without them before recent changes, so I consider this bug unresolved, and the product is useless to me if I have to add 3rd party cookie exceptions.
