Steps to reproduce:

Open a few tabs and restart Firefox.



Actual results:

Tabs will get reloaded automatically all, or ones that are clicked on (if "Don't load tabs until selected" is checked).


Expected results:

There should be and option to disable tabs reloading entirely! It is most inconvenient when you have some text in textareas, restart browser and they're reloaded, therefore the text is gone.

browser.cache.check_doc_frequency=2 does not prevent this behaviour although it should as I understand. Up to appr. V12 FF worked as expected.

Really disappointed this hasn't been fixed after 2 years. This bug means that you lose all cached content when you restore a previous session, because the tabs automatically reload from the server no matter what you do. This is of course, outrageous. 

Consider the scenario where a business traveler wants to access cached content when without an internet connection. The only workaround seems to be toggling "offline" mode.

Actually, I need to amend the comment above. Offline mode is useless and NOT a workaround for this bug. Firefox still attempts to reload tabs from the server in offline mode.

:+1: this is definitely a real problem forcing me to use another browser than Firefox when I am travelling and want to open some tabs to read them in the plane, without internet connection.

I have also lost many tabs due to this problem and captive portals on wifi networks, forcing a redirection and losing my history.
