Messenger start time is about 8 times slower than 4
Messenger start time is about 8 times slower than 4.6's Messenger start time Here are our automated results: Messenger Startup Time 4.6: 12.305000 s 5.0: 95.138000 s System and Build: Win95, 166 MHz, 48mg RAM, LAN Build Number: 1999062808 Methodology: Measures the time it took to start up the Messenger window. No other application is running except the QA Partner client and Agent. Description Messenger 5.0 is started by typing "apprunner -mail" on the DOS Prompt. Timer is started as soon as the Enter key is pressed and wait till Messenger is loaded completely. Timer is stopped at this moment and the elapsed time is reported as the Messenger start up time. Pls let me know if you need more detailed information.
A number of factors could be involved here - first of all, we need to know if you have any local mail folders, and in general, how your account is set up. Part of this should be improved when we rebase dlls.

Lots of things have changed since this bug was written, and the data is doubtless out of date. I think we should track mail/news startup time on a regular basis as part of QA performance testing, and file bugs on that. Marking this bug invalid.
Verified Invalid...someone might want to open a new Mail/News performance bug to keep track of progress in terms of launch times.
