A few minor content related questions on https://blog.mozilla.org/university/

1.) Are we keeping the call to action underneath tabzilla that says 'Seen enough? Apply Now »'? Is this still needed now we have an 'apply now' CTA directly after the first introductory paragraph?

2.) Are we keeping the introductory video that's already on the page?

3.) I recall discussing in the last meeting re: removing the 'Meet our interns' section. Could someone confirm that this part is definitely going?

Thanks
1) I think we can nix it.

2) Let's keep it for now

3) Yes, it's being removed

I've attached an in-progress screenshot of how the new copy looks on the page.

For the air mozilla intern video's I just grabbed the most recent three for now, until we decide which ones are to be used.

Any feedback, suggestions or further amends just let me know.

Hey Alex,
This looks great, thanks for sharing. A few thoughts on this:
- I believe we had talked about getting rid of the social contact bar. I don't know if that adds much value but Kimber may have differing data/views.
- It would be good if we could break up some of the text so it's more legible
- Can we remove "What can I expect?" and make "The application process" the header for what comes below? It should styled like "It's different here..."
- I believe Kimber would like to expose more events. One way to do this would be to use the sidebar space where the interns presentations currently are. We could display the events in chronological lists, with either one or two columns, depending on what looks best.

Just uploaded attachment 790319 [details]. It's a quick and dirty mock-up based on Alex's original screenshot to illustrate. Let me know if you think that would work!

Kimber: we are gong to need the 3 videos you would like featured along with short captions (probably 5-10 words).
Thanks for the feedback - mockup looks good to me!

I'll rework things based on this layout and post a revised screenshot.
Hey Alex,
Unless it's really easy to do, maybe it would be best to wait for Kimber's feedback? We wouldn't want you to spend too much time on this if this doesn't work for her.
Ok will hang fire :)
Hey! This is looking pretty good. Here are some of my thoughts:

1) We should remove the copy: Top Three Interns' Presentations
I think we can change this to: "Check out what our interns have been working on"

2) Social media links can go to the very bottom of the webpage

3) I'd like to put the calendar either right below the "Once a Mozillian" intro paragraph OR have it appear on the right side of the page. Whatever works best with the other changes below. But it should be prominent on the page and either sit on the top right or right below our intro paragraph in the middle of the page. Copy to intro the calendar can read: Meet Mozilla on campus! Here's where you can find us. All of our events should be visible at once - no scrolling or clicking needed.

4) We need to distinguish the intern video from the intern presentations - right now, it seems a bit blended. Can we center the interns video and make it more prominent? Also, can we change the CTA on the video from "Interns Video" to "Meet Our Interns"?

5) We need to change "What Can I Expect?" "The Application Process" since it's not super applicable anymore. Can we change the copy to read: "Things You'll Want To Know"

6) I would also like the "You Will/You Will Not" section to be more visually separate from the "Things You'll Want To Know" if possible. Maybe it can go in a separate box. I'll let you determine placement according to where the other stuff is moving around too - but essentially this is fine to remain near the bottom of the page.

I hope this isn't too many asks. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Kimber
The three videos that appear on the mock-up now, actually work for me.

Greg, in terms of captions, what information do you propose we put in?

Hey Kimber,
Just to clarify, was your feedback in reaction to Alex's original screenshot or the one I posted a few minutes ago?

(In reply to kimber from comment #11)
> Greg, in terms of captions, what information do you propose we put in?
I would suggest the intern's first name and the title of their presentation or the project they worked on.

(In reply to kimber from comment #10)
> 2) Social media links can go to the very bottom of the webpage
Most of the accounts listed here seem inactive since 2012. We should only feature them if the team really uses them. You don't want to sent candidates to a no man's land! ;)
Yes, feedback was in reaction to Alex's original screenshot. Sorry, I think what happened was I started working on the feedback before a meeting then submitted it after missing Greg's comments.

Yes, we can remove the links to social media as they are mostly inactive.

Underneath the third presentation, can we put a CTA that will direct people to the full channel of presentations for this year? With the copy: See more presentations on our Air Mozilla channel
Thanks for the feedback Kimber, I'll get to work on the copy updates.

Gregory, would you have time to put together a new rough mockup based on the collective feedback from Kimber and yourself? It might help to focus the layout requirements and save us a bit of time iterating the design.

Please let me know if you don't have time, as I can try and piece together something that fits.
Also, do we have a confirmed date for this event yet?

- University of Waterloo, Tech Talk and Info Session, Waterloo — January 2014 (exact date TBD)

Looks like Wordpress requires a date in order to publish the entry.
No confirmed date yet. If you do require a date, we can leave this event off the calendar for now.

Thanks!

Just posted an updated layout proposal. That's as far as my design skills go!

I don't think it's going to be easy to put events on top without making the page look weird and pushing down some of the other important info down too much. However, I think we can make events more accessible by adding a CTA next to Apply Now, encouraging candidates to check our the campus dates.

Another place where we can add events is in the navigation next to the Mozilla Tab. It is my understanding that About / Get Involved / Projects on the current unversity need to go. We could replace them with Campus Events or Campus Events / Apply Now

Let me know what you think.
Thanks Gregory,

This works for me if everybody else is ok?

For the events CTA button, would you like it to navigate down to the events section at the bottom of the page? The other option would be to open an events list in a modal window?

Also if someone could confirm the removal of 'About', 'Get Involved' and 'Projects' links/pages that would be great.

Sorry, forgot to mention that. I was thinking it would scroll down with an anchor. Feels lighter than an anchor.

It seems that some of the info in there is redundant with the new copy. "Projects" links to nothing... looks like they should go.

Kimber can you let us know your thoughts on this and the updated mockup I shared so Alex can finalize this?

Thanks all!

Alex/Greg - this looks fantastic!

Yes confirmed - please remove the above mentioned links/pages.
Thanks all,

Here's a screenshot of the updated page - any last amends please let me know,

Alex
I like it! Thanks Alex! Looking pretty good for a temp fix!
Kimber, can you let us know if you have any changes/comments?
Sorry for the delay! Have been in the wilderness the past few days, slowly catching up on email.

This looks great, thank you, Alex! Two things:

*Is it possible to make the "It's good here..." headline and following sentence more vertically centered to the video on it's right? It feels like there's an odd gap between that and the "You Will" section.

*In the calendar section, Bucharest needs its "t"

Do you guys need anything from me at this point? Greg, are the presentation captions accurate? They sound about right going off the previous funky titles our interns usually give us. :)

Thanks, Kimber - no problem, updated!
Thank you, Alex!
Here are my comments

1/ Things You'll Want to Know > Where Will I Be > "We host interns at have several offices around the world" should be "We have several offices around the world..."

2/ Event links redirect to nothing, so it would be best to remove the link unless Kimber's team is going to add information there.

3/ Intern presentations videos

Kimber, judging by what's on Air Mozilla, I believe the captions are correct, but it doesn't mean we should use them as they are! Kimber do you want to check with the interns to see if we can get a more informative caption?

Agree with gregory - we should de-link the events
Agreed - we should de-link the events.

To point 3 from comment 29: Yes, I'll check with them and see what additional info we can get.

To point 1 from comment 29: I'm seeing that there's a type on there. Greg, is your comment that we should remove the "host" or that we should take out the extra "have" that appears?

We put "host" in intentionally since we don't want to say, we have several offices around the world, list them on the site, then later tell interns who ask that we can't actually put them there. :/

Suggestions:

1) We host interns at several offices around the world: Mountain View, San Francisco, Toronto and Paris. Your internship location will be based on the location of your team and/or your mentor, with whom you’ll work closely.

2) We have several offices around the world. Your internship location will be assigned to you based upon the location of your team and/or your mentor, with whom you’ll work closely.

I was simply referring to the typo! I agree with both of your suggestions below but if I had to choose, I would go with #2 as #1 sounds like they will have the choice or that they will stay at several offices.

Your call!
I think I prefer #2 as well, let's go with that.

Thanks!
