Proper STR:
1) Set about:config > browser.newtab.url = https://www.google.com/
2) Open a new tab (Google homepage is displayed)
3) Run a search on Google
4) Click on the back button

Result: Tab title is New Tab instead of Google.

Reproduced on Latest Nightly (build ID: 20130813155809) using the STR from comment 1.
