User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_4) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/28.0.1500.71 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

1. searched for bugs
2. clicked 'change multiple bugs at once'
3. added a keyword / miscellaneous change
4. looked for a "do not send email" checkbox (not available)
5. commit



Actual results:

1. 400+ emails sent out to actual people for a misc. update.
2. around 50 users annoyed from spam.


Expected results:

when changing multiple bugs at once, it should have given me an option to not send any email.

I realize this extension is not for everyone, but it is much needed in our deployment. It could be useful to others.

There has been a lot of discussion already about allowing this or not, see bug 23924, and it has been decided that the decision to not send bugmails should *not* be in the hands of the user doing the changes. One of the reasons is that it could easily be abused. If it had to be implemented one way or another, the right way to go would be to follow the suggestion made in bug 23924 comment 12.

Anyway, the Extension component is to handle bugs/enhancements to the Extension system itself, not to propose new extensions. :)

After discussing with Dave, I figured out I could create an extension that does not need to go into Bazaar with Bugzilla-Proper. Providing an extension means whoever deems the extension useful may turn it on and use it. There is a long discussion on bug 23924 and it is safe to say "stealing emails away from users" is highly controversial.
