User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130730113002 Steps to reproduce: scroll on a page, smoothscrolling deactivated, HW acceleration active. those options don't seem to have any effect to the problem at all. Info: WinXP SP 2 Intel DualCore 3,4 GHZ Actual results: audio dma gets terrible interrupted. This was already fixed in FF14, but someone reintroduced this bug ith FF23. Really , can't be so hard to fix. all other programs scroll fine , but only ff has those problems (again). Expected results: no dma interrupts.
Could you please provide the link of the test page ?
Flags: needinfo?(support)
sorry for the late reply , all pages do that. Even mozillas bugzilla.

Windows XP SP 2 DirectX 9.0c ( 4.09.0000.0904 ) Intel Pentium D 3.4 GHZ Checked it against Chrome and Chrome does not interrupt the audio dma while scrolling a page. Windows got it's DMA usage form HDs reset lately , but until FF 23 , the problem did not occure and other software does not cause it, even while intense use scrolling i.e. inside Eclipse.
Please check if the issue occurs using Firefox in safe mode (with your addons disabled): http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Or on a new, empty profile: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager Also, what audio DMA do you use ? Do you have something similar to test with ?
With Plugins disabled, all is fine .. no interruptions Attention: I don't have all plugins and addons enabled all the time, i.e. the SEO tools are not enabled by default. DirectX 9.0c with WinAmp and that for years now without such problems. But as one plugin seems to be the source of all evil ... i just need to find out the faulty addon.
Disable your addons one by one until you find the culprit.
i tried this 3 times with the same result: Audio DMA is fine, when FF gets started with Plugins-disabled in SafeMode. Audio DMA is broken by scrolling any page, when ALL Addons and Plugins are deactivated manually, but FF does not run in SafeMode. Safemod => all fine, Not Safemode => DMA errors . Conclusion: No plugin or extention is responsible for it. Now it gets interessting :)
What about with a new profile ?
The new profile had the same problems from the beginning. This rule applies: "Safemod => all fine, Not Safemode => DMA errors" I should mention, that it only happens, when FF is on the second display. When it's on the primary display, it seems to be ok. What are the relevant config options ? Which settings should i check while in safemod, which in normal mode ? BTW: i will open a new bugreport for the profile wipe i mentioned on email. it took 5 hours to recover from that bug ;)
One more thing to try: disable/enable hardware acceleration in Tools/Options/Advanced/General
I did that as soon as i had the bug with the update, because i knew the bug from FF 13. It does not help. Maybe the switch does not work , that would be an answere to it. Profilebug: Bug 413108 - complete default profile deleted when removing unused profile in profile manager ** ATTN ** If you follow this bugs hints, DO NOT DELETE YOUR PROFILE!
(In reply to support from comment #10) > This rule applies: "Safemod => all fine, Not Safemode => DMA errors" > I should mention, that it only happens, when FF is on the second display. > When it's on the primary display, it seems to be ok. So, in safe mode works fine with 2 monitors ?
yes
