1) default browser check experience:
We are the only browser still using a modal dialog to ask the user to set a default browser. Chrome opens an 'infobar' and IE opens a tab with big buttons.
All 3 browsers offer the same simple Windows browser listing once one clicks 'set default browser' in the prompt.
2) setting default browser via options
IE/Firefox are equally bad at this. Chrome displays the 'set as default browser' on the main preference page, we bury it in 'Advanced'.
2a)When one finally clicks 'make Nightly my default browser' Windows 8 pops up a completely crazy dialog. Apparently the crazy dialog is because we try to set http/https association AND htm/html whereas Chrome only sets http/https so windows pops up a simpler dialog.
2b)For some reason when using Firefox the crazy dialog opens behind Firefox(the task bar highlights the control panel icon in yellow).
