User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130814063812 Steps to reproduce: took update v23.0.1 from 22 typed search words into address bar Actual results: got default search engine (google) as google.fr (french ip) default parameters Expected results: keyword.url search as google.co.uk with keyword.url parameters
This appears to be a deliberate misfeature. To un-break it, try this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/keywordurl-hack/ Seriously though, this is a really annoying choice. The correct behaviour (which Fx has had for years) is this: 1. Typing a string containing no spaces into the location bar goes to that URL. 2. Typing a string containing spaces into the location bar, searches for that string (using keyword.URL; I have google) 3. Typing a string into the search bar searches the custom engine for that string; I usually have Wikipedia. Having #2 and #3 do the same thing may be consistent, but it's really unhelpful, as we need to do more clicking to achieve the same result.
