Steps to reproduce:

1) Go to: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
2) (Untick the 2 checkboxes if you want and) Click on Download Now

Tested on Mac with Snow Leopard, probably won't work on Windows too. I should test it on Windows 8. Lion and Mountain Lion are not affected because iTunes is downloaded from the Mac App Store.

Solution is to manually set security.mixed_content.block_active_content to false and download it.


Actual results:

The popup window to download iTunes program doesn't appear.



Expected results:

The popup window to download iTunes should appear and I should be able to save the program.

Tested and also on Windows 8 it doesn't allow to download iTunes.

For a non-technical user it could seem strange not to be able to download iTunes using Firefox 23 or later.
Mixed content blocking is on by default...

At the moment, with the unmodified Firefox 23 or later under Snow Leopard and Windows 8 (and much probably also Windows 7) it's not possible to download iTunes.

OK, it's an Apple's website problem, however I don't know, maybe the mixed content popup alert should stay visible with more visibility than today it is, should OPEN AUTOMATICALLY and stay OPEN until I choose what to do, otherwise cases like this can happen...

It shouldn't be possible to change page until I choose... when you click on Download, the mixed content icon is triggered BUT then the page changes quickly to the Thank You page and there is NO time to select what to do...

Thanks for reporting this Ste.
Summarizing the problem is that the page quickly changes without giving you the time to select what to do when the triggered mixed content icon appear.

Today (20th August) I tried to download iTunes and there's no more active content so it works well now.
;)

So this bug is resolved, lasted only a few days :)
Unless they put other active content back to that page ;)

This bug seems to be a duplicate of bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=864787, which was resolved after we discussed the issue with Apple.
