I noticed the new tab page loads about:blank as the new tab page url. There should be an about:newtab that is a new tab page, somewhat similar to firefox's, but maybe different to fit seamonkey's style. This new tab page, once created, should be set as the default url of the new tab page, and there should be an about:config entry to change the new tab page to a different page.
Almost forgot, the about:config entry should be named the same as the firefox one (forgot the name), and there should be a preference with it that includes a restore default button (for the page).
