I can't get to this FTP site. It spins for a minute or so then gives me an
alert box stating:
UNKNOWN Type: L8
This is the UIArchive at Cham-bana. Useful site, my best GNU mirror.
I am firewalled, but that shouldn't have anything to do with this, that only
affects transfers and I can't even sign on.

Without the option "send email as anonymous ftp password" i get a "login incorrect"
Turning that on gives me the L8 error

The server is actually sending the message seen.

Mozilla gets upset. I should point out that neither Lynx nor the Squid
proxy were bothered at all.
We currently do not support all types of FTP servers, because we only handle
certain types of servers.
Can you find out more information about this server, like OS or ftp server type?
Whiteboard: DUPEME
I am the Service Manager for UIArchive, and we have not encountered that problem
with Mozilla. The server will refuse any connection that does not give an
e-mail address when loggin in anonymously. If you need more info please contact
me at lecrone@uiuc.edu.
I would like to know more about why this is failing for this user, because I
know if it happens once it will happen to others as well.
