The pictures are taken with the expected orientation but the preview in firefox is rotated 90 degreees clock wise (see attached screenshot)

The viewport is actually rotated by 90° on purpose.See http://git.io/rotation I am not sure what to do about this.
It's interesting, I'm assuming that this is a mozCamera/hardware thing. I'm sure that we could fix this in our shim if we wanted, but two things that would be nicer to have in firefox would be: 1 - Video capture 2 - Previews in the filmstrip
Kevin. Do we have bug numbers track those features?
Not yet. We should probably file them and block them against a meta bug that covers general improvements.

Are we still supporting gaia in firefox? Do you think it's reasonable to close this bug?

It's something I would like to support, but I don't have as much time these days. If it's not a feature that you guys want to maintain, or care about, I'm fine if you close this.

There's no resources devoted to gaia in firefox since the app manager is getting all the love. There are very low chances that this is going to get fixed.
