VERIFIED DUPLICATE of bug 75283

People

(Reporter: wkfx2003-bugzilla, Assigned: sspitzer)

Details

From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.2+)
Gecko/20010714
BuildID: 2001071408

Read an email in preview frame.
Use mouse, if I try to select a line from the first character,
it always has a new line before the selection.
If I try to up to last charater, it always has a new line after the selection.

For example, email content is

111111111
  http://www.mozilla.com
333333333

If I select from "h" in "http" and up to "o" in ".com", no matter how careful I
select, I could never select only "http://www.mozilla.co". Instead, Mozilla
select <newline> & "http://www.mozilla.co"
i.e. when paste to other application, the selection is pasted in a new line.
Similarrly, if start from "p" in "http:" and end at "m" in ".com", copy and
paste, there is always a CR/LF at the end

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Read an email
2. Use mouse to select
3. Copy (by keyboard, or mouse)

Actual Results: New line prepend or appended to the selection

Expected Results: The selection should not be modified.
This is for sure a dup of bug 56135
, but 56135 is marked as fixed,
althow this behaviour is still present.
This is not *necessarily* a dup of bug 56135. It depends on which HTML is used
to render the mail (it is *not* just one big <pre>, IIRC).

Reporter, which exact content type did the email have, which you copied?

Seth, to debug this, use the testapp |mimetest| to see the source of the message
as it's sent to gecko. Oh, you cvs removed it *eg*! I can check the source, once
we know, which type the msg had.
this is a dup of one (or more) of Joe's bugs...
