Let me review the problem but if the network events are being received as expected, the only thing we can do is to lower the threshold.

QA,
Please test if this is consistently happening on our latest builds. Please check if it is a messaging issue or an actual issue.

This issue is reproducible on the Buri 1.2 Build ID: 20130904040205 by setting the data alert to 5MB then surfing the browser. The user will only be notified with an alert if they pull down the notifications bar or open the usage app. Otherwise, the user is not reminded.

Hello
We have two problems here.
1- 250 threshold is very high. I was trying with lower values. 75 seems enough.
2- For some reason, video does not trigger network events at a proper rate to reach the thresholds.
I continue working on it because I detected that the alarm is not triggered in every situation.

Oh, and we found this bug during Peru certification process.

I'm going to low the threshold to 75 and provide a patch. Then I'm gonna add qawanted to test the patch.

I'm assuming the patch from comment 12 is included in 09/10 m-r build... the issue doesn't reproduce on this build, when I set data alert for 5MB and then browse web using cell data, I do receive notification when usage exceeds 5MB without having to check it manually by pulling down notification bar. It's slightly delayed, I have 7.98MB usage when notification arrives, not sure if it's OK.

Asking for leo? because this bug has been reported as a certification issue.
Comment 16•12 years ago
|
||
Not a regression issue and it seems to be a feature enhancement. Will be available in 1.2

No, this is a regression because before bug 901416 this worked well (i.e. the notification delay was acceptable). After fixing that platform bug, the delay becomes too much. Renominating. WDYT?

First, note this has not been included in the official branch.
If you applied the patch and it is not working, please, enable the extended traces (go to costcontrol/js/utils/debug.js and set DEBUGGING to true). Then repeat the tests and attach the logs.

Blocking+ - it's critically important the user is aware of when data limit is exceeded and this is a regression.
