I first saw this feature in Xnews, and it's a great way to receive notification that a follow-up to one of your posts has been received. The follow-up post is highlighted visually, and a WAV sound plays, as would a new mail notification.

Some options would be nice, so I also can get a message if anyone posts. (Would be great for local nntp-Server).
