According to this w3c bug, it looks like that is where we are headed: https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=22003
Here is a work in progress. There is no official draft yet, so we should wait.
The spec doesn't support this. Instead, there is a 'voiceschanged' event (bug 1254378). Whatever. Closing as WONTFIX.
