This came up in the crossteam call. Users are already beginning to create localized content in their makes (this is happening in Japan right now). We need to ensure tags and search can support characters for other languages, as this is currently the only way to surface localized content.
Aali, do you know how to move this forward?

I can test with some of my localized content and see what is the current problem/missing functionality to make this work and will report back as soon as possible.
I just went ahead and make sure if what we currently have will work with different language or not and at this point I can say that it works perfectly fine with different language. I have created a Thimble make with Thai language and tagged that in Thai and also the description is in Thai and did the search on Webmaker.org and it does work as expected. URL to the make https://alicoding.makes.org/thimble/15981 Search term "สวัสดีชาวโลก" (It means Hello World in Thai :) ) https://webmaker.org/en-US/search?type=all&q=%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%B5%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A7%E0%B9%82%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%81 It will be a long URL but because that is encoded by the browser and that is fine. Also, there is a way around which I have spoke to :jbuck while ago about making this work with a nicer url for different language, but there is a bit of disadvantage of doing that but again not a big lost compare to the URL we will get which will be something like this. https://webmaker.org/en-US/search?type=all&q=สวัสดีชาวโลก
