From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.2) Gecko/20010628
BuildID: 2001062815
I have opened the Bookmarks menu from the browser and clicked on "Manage
Bookmarks (CTRL+B)" item.
Into the new opened window I have right-clicked a my bookmark (that was inside a
folder). A menu apperared and I clicked on the "File Bookmark(s)..." item.
When I clicked, Mozilla stopped to response to my mouse clicks. Windows Task
Manager (I use MS Windows 2000 Professional Build 2195 Service Pack 2, English
version) reported me that the CPU load was 100% (I have AMD Athlon 1.33GHz and
usually the CPU load is only 0-10%). Also, Windows Task Manager reported
increased memory utilization (I have 384MB RAM).
After some seconds, Mozilla crashed.
After the crash, CPU and Memory Utilization dropped down again.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open The "Manage Bookmarks" window.
2. Right-click a bookmark.
3. From the menu, choose the "File Boookmark(s)..." item.
Actual Results: Mozilla stopped to respond.
Windows Task Manager reported me 100% CPU Utilization and increased memory
utilization (I have AMD Athlon 1.33GHz and 384MB RAM).
After some seconds, Mozilla crashed.
After the crash CPU Utilization dropped to 0-1% and memory utilization decreased.
Expected Results: Open the File Bookmarks menu item.
I run on Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional buld 2195, English Version, Service
Pack 2. I have reproduced the crash one more time after the initial crash. Some
other programs were running during the Mozilla crash (but not affected) like
Eudora, mIRC, GetRight. I also use a small firewall utility named Tiny Personal
Firewall.
My system is based on AMD Athlon 1.33GHz with 384MB of DDR-SDRAM memory and
Matrox G200 AGP graphics adapter. The chipset that my motherboard (ASUS A7M266)
uses is the AMD-760 (761 Northbridge).

WFM Win2k 20010827
Reporter: Please download a more recent talkback-enabled build from mozilla.org
to determine if the problem still exists. It is very difficult to diagnose a
problem such as this without the details which talkback provide. If talkback
does capture a crash, please post the Talkback ID into this bug.
Thanks for using mozilla and for filing bugs.
I'm seeing this too whenever I select "File Bookmark" from the bookmark menu -
all the other actions in the "Manage Bookmarks" dialogue box seem to WFM. As
soon as I select File the program hangs and I have to kill it. Talkbalk doesn't
seem to be catching it (I downloaded the sea.exe installer). I'm using Windows
Me on a Compaq AMD 1.2gig with 128 mb. Like the original reporter, none of my
other programs (typically Getright, Winamp, webshots, Norton firewall) are
affected. Build ID: 2001090703

I was referred to this bug by comments from tjwalker@iprimus.com.au on bug 70174.
I am running Netscape 6.1 on Win2K Pro SP2 and have problems with looping when
managing my bookmarks. It usually happens when scrolling. I get the impression
that it has to do with long bookmark names because just before it hangs I
sometimes notice that the columns division between name and location moves to
inconsistent location. I have found that if I am patient enough the loop/hang
may turn into a crash. This morning I noticed that netscp6.exe was also growing
in memory usage while looping, however, this time it just stopped after a while
and things resumed working.
samething happened here. whenever I tried to edit (manage bookmarks), Mozilla will start using all the availible CPU cycles and therefor freeze the program. I think since it didn't really crashed, so talkback didn't catch it.
It'll happen almost 100% of the time, after I start to scroll down/up in the bookmark window. sometimes it'll happen before I finish scroll down to bottom,
sometimes I can scroll it up and down couple times before it starts to eat
the cpu cycles. (I'm refering to the editing window only). I have English, Traditional Chinese (Big5) and Japanese characters in the bookmarks.
software:
BuildID: 2001091303
OS: Windows 98SE English, with Chinese Traditional(Big5) and Japanese fonts installed (from Microsoft)
Hardware:
CPU: AMD K7-600Mhz
RAM: 768MB (64MB have been used as ramdisk)
Motherboard: Asus K7M
Video: Voodoo3-3000 AGP
NIC: Realtek 8139 chipset PCI

Is anybody still seeing this? I haven't had this problem in ages. ID 2001121703,
Windows ME and XP. Cheers.

Yes... you are correct. I just tested it on 0.9.7 on Debian GNU/Linux and I
don't have this problem.
Should we get some more reports and then suggest that this be closed?

Don't see this happen since 0.9.6 nor in 0.9.7 for Windows 9x build

You may need to re-open this bug.
I've just had this bug occur on Linux with build 2002091908.
Occurred when clicking Bookmarks->File Bookmarks in bookmarks menu.
As for Win 2K, got 100% CPU, and hangs.
For me, I wasn't normally patient enough to wait for a crash.
Crashed once, after doing something else for ~15 minutes, and talkback report
submitted.
Was highly repeatable.
Bug was cleared when bookmarking a page by dragging from the URL bar, to the
bookmarks in the sidebar.
I now cannot repeat this bug.
