Steps to reproduce:

1. Browse https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/map-geolocation?hl=de
2. When asked (pop-up box) allow access to geo location data


Actual results:

The google map does not show up.


Expected results:

The google map should show up like it does in other browsers.
WFM with old and new versions of Firefox. After allowing to share my geoloc, the GG map displays my position.

Could you try with a clean profile, please.

If this is a distro build, instead of a Mozilla one, this is likely a result of the changes in bug 882485 (see bug 883233 for sample build config changes). Each distro making their own build will need to acquire a key.

Started FF with a new profile, set all in about:config to standard values, diabled all extensions and plugins but the result remains the same: Google maps are not visible.

Nothing we can do here. This needs to be solved by the people who package Firefox for Ubuntu.

It is true that this bug is Ubuntu specific. After installing the actual Firefox version from http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ that Firefox displays the Google geoloaction maps correctly. Please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1231273.
