User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130911164256 Steps to reproduce: 1. Browse https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/map-geolocation?hl=de 2. When asked (pop-up box) allow access to geo location data Actual results: The google map does not show up. Expected results: The google map should show up like it does in other browsers.
WFM with old and new versions of Firefox. After allowing to share my geoloc, the GG map displays my position. Could you try with a clean profile, please. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

If this is a distro build, instead of a Mozilla one, this is likely a result of the changes in bug 882485 (see bug 883233 for sample build config changes). Each distro making their own build will need to acquire a key.

Nothing we can do here. This needs to be solved by the people who package Firefox for Ubuntu.

It is true that this bug is Ubuntu specific. After installing the actual Firefox version from http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ that Firefox displays the Google geoloaction maps correctly. Please see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1231273.
