Description

Steps to produce :

1) Reboot Device
2) Launch Music app
3) Play any music and Press Home button immediately (Press Only ONCE) . You will see HomeScreen
4) Try to pan in HomeScreen. Homescreen becomes unresponsive for atleast 1 min.

Device used: 512MB QRD FFOS 1.2

For what it's worth, I can't reproduce this on an Inari.

I'd be interested in seeing a regression window for this. My initial guess was that this might be fallout from bug 902974, but that can't be right, since that patch didn't land on 1.2 until *after* this bug was filed. With that in mind, my best guess is that something in the mp3 decoder is causing issues.

I guess the root cause is the same as bug 914870 because music should also freezes.

I tried to reproduce it on master hamachi built from source by myself(2013/09/23), but I can not reproduce it on my hamachi. I am going to try the bug on v1.2 again.

I was not able to repro this on Aurora Hamachi 1.2 9/24 build (9/23 was not available on the build share). Tapping on a song and immediately tapping home button plays the song as normal. I also went back several 1.2 builds and did not encounter the issue.

Requesting more info from TKundu.

- Does it repro 100%?
- Are there any tricks to the timing of pressing the home button? Do you have to wait for the song to appear or tap home within less than a second of playing a song?
- Did you play from the song list or music home menu?

Please press home button as soon as possible (it may help you to reproduce if you can press in less than 1 sec).

Steps which I did: 

1) Reboot Device
2) Launch Music app
3) Play any music BY TOUCHING MUSIC FILE IMAGE in music app and Press Home button immediately (Press Only ONCE) . You will see HomeScreen
4) Try to pan in HomeScreen. Homescreen becomes unresponsive for atleast 1 min.


If you still face issues to reproduce then please let me know. I can provide a video of all steps.

Regarding Comment 8, there definitely is an issue on my Buri when you follow those instructions using:

However, in my case there is a 5.22 second delay before the homescreen even draws, so in my base there is nothing to pan.  I agree with Dominic that it is likely that Bug 914870 in involved since the music app seems to be momentarily freezing when it is launched due to that bug.

Got it to repro on the 9/23 build. 8/15 1.2 Buri was the last build where it didn't hang when playing a song then immediately tapping the home button. This issue is a bit hard to repro every build thereafter as it requires pressing Home at a different time for each build. Depending on the build it can take ~30 seconds to respond, +/- 15 seconds.

Does this reproduce only with MP3 files or does it also happen with Ogg Vorbis? That might help narrow down what's causing the problem.

The issue no longer reproduces on 10/04 Buri aurora.
Possibly the fix in bug 914870 which has landed on 09/30 fixed this issue as well.

I tested on older biuld (09/28) to answer your question, so the issues only reproduced with MP3 files, did not reproduce with Ogg Vorbis.
