Details
Nightly 27.0a1 2013-09-24
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (Android 4.1)
Steps to reproduce:
1) Enter "mozilla" in the url bar
2) Type a space
3) Enter any character
4) Remove the character and the space and type a "." after mozilla
5) Type a letter character after the dot
Expected results:
After typing a space the arrow is changes to the magnifying glass
After typing a dot the magnifying glass is changed to the arrow
Actual results:
The arrow is changed to the magnifying glass only after a new letter is typed after space
The magnifying glass is changed to the arrow only after a letter is typed after the dot
Please see the videocapture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIxkZ6yluKI&feature=share&list=UUQbfDJvsv1kOAmp09GPjSag
Notes:
On Firefox Mobile 24 the magnifying glass is displayed when the user types a space not after the first letter after a space
Also on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus the arrow is displayed when the dot is typed on all FF mobile versions but on the Galaxy Tab 2 only after a letter is entered after the dot.

Does this still happen? I couldn't reproduce on my Nexus 4 using today's Nightly (10/07). On step 5, I continue to see an arrow and not a magnifying glass.

This is still reproducible as described on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 using the standard Samsung Keyboard on Nightly 27.0a1 2013-10-07.
On the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 (Android 4.0.4) and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Android 4.1) at step 5 the arrow is correctly displayed but still at step 3 the arrow is changed to a magnifying glass only after entering a character after space.
