When you encounter a link in any given tab, right click and select open in sub tab. You would be asked for a title for the main tab: i.e. "Building Materials", "Things to Buy", etc. The current tab would then show a symbol indicating it has sub-tabs. When you point to the current tab, it would show all the sub tabs cascaded. You click on a sub tab to jump to that tab. This way, you can group ideas under tabs and keep them under certain "thought trails". You could organize and minimize the number of tabs this way.

Are you familiar with the Tab Groups feature (also known as TabCandy and Panorama)? Press Ctrl+Shift+E to activate it. Its removal and conversion to add-on are planned though: bug 836758.
