A contributor came complaining about metrofx not starting. After inspecting his machine, it seems win8 was very confused in the default panel. There was the nightly entry with the GA logo and no GA entry. We uninstalled the GA to no avail... Eventually he admitted that his copy is not licensed. Do we have any testing on unlicensed windows8?
If you still have contact with that user, let's try asking them to try Chrome on Windows 8. My initial hunch is that it's a different issue (direct x capability related?) and not license related.

We're not going to fix issues with unlicensed versions of an os.
