One thing I have never much cared for in Netscape and now Mozilla is its proficiency in the art of dialog boxes. By that I mean the number of dialog boxes it brings up when it isn't necessary to bring them up. I will give you an example: I was going to a website, McAfee.com in this case, and here a dialog boxes comes up informing me that it couldn't connect to a server (in this case to get an ad, because the rest of the website loaded up fine). This causes a bad user experience in my opinion. It makes Mozilla look like a 'freakosaurus' (to take a word from st:voy). I propose a solution that would take up space on the status bar (which is not currently being taken up currently that I am aware of). Putting a combo box on the status bar just to the left of the progress bar containing all of these status thingies. I have had the experience of being interrupted a good deal of times by netscape over this sort of thing. Interruptions are a thing to be avoided in a good user interface. Microsoft's solution is better I think, but still needs some work. Their solution was to put a whole webpage saying what happened and what could have caused it (it is the obvious list). In some cases this replaces the current webpage with this screen, which is what netscape's dialog boxes are better for.
Platform->All OS->All Severity->Enhancement Probably a "Wont-fix", but I will leave it up to Asa to decide.
