Reproducible on: latest Beta (20131010180222): Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 latest Aurora (20131010004002): Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0 latest Nightly (20131010030202): Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0 Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to http://ted.mielczarek.org/mozilla/crashme.html page and install the Crash Me Now! add-on 2. After Firefox restarts, go to Extensions 3. Select the "Options" button for the Crash Me Now! add-on Expected results: The Options are shown. If there is no Options page created, the button should be disabled or nothing should happen at click. Actual results Firefox freezes and it can only by closed from Task Manager. Notes: This issue is not a recent regression, it also happens in Fx 22. We only reproduced it on Windows. On Mac and Ubuntu, the "Preferences" button doesn't open the options, but Firefox doesn't freeze. Will continue investigate for more details.
This doesn't hang for me on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0. The options UI is not complicated: http://code.google.com/p/crashme/source/browse/trunk/options.xul I suspect this is a platform bug.

Petruta, can you please confirm this only happens in Windows 8.1 and not other Windows versions?
Not a recent regression, and also this is for an addon primarily used by devs to test the browser, so we don't need to track this - but if this turns out to be something that affects other addons please renominate, otherwise just nominate a fix for uplift when ready.

The issue reproduces on available Windows versions (Win XP 32-bit, Win Vista 32-bit, Win 7 64-bit, Win 8 32-bit, Win 8.1 64-bit). On all Firefox versions until 18.0.2 selecting Options button will open a small error message "Problem loading", the browser doesn't freeze. The freeze happens since Firefox 19.0.2.
Removing this from Windows 8.1 specific bugs since this affects all Windows versions as per comment 4.
