Details

Installing and running the full suite of webmaker products and their dependencies is time consuming and issue-laden. It is especially troublesome developing on Windows.

If we can make a Linux based VM with the dependencies and webmaker products already installed it could be run on any host OS and ease the barrier to development.
I've done some preliminary research into using a Vagrant VM for the project and I've written my thoughts down in a blog post here, http://chadpilkey.wordpress.com/2013/10/15/creating-a-vm-for-webmaker/. The post includes some pros and cons to using Vagrant, but overall it seems promising.
