User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130910160258 Steps to reproduce: Trying to download a file. This is what I've tried so far: * change download folder location * create new user profile Both to no avail. Still happening. Actual results: File arrives in download folder with 0 bytes and without actually being downloaded. Expected results: The file should have been downloaded. Happening with FF 24 stable and FF 25b7. Hard to reproduce but keeps happening on various sites when trying to download a file.

Do you have any addons installed? I have a mac, and I haven't noticed this. Could you please provide a specific situation where this happens so I can try to reproduce it? Thanks!

Add-Ons: Application: Firefox 24.0 (20130910160258) Operating System: Darwin (x86_64-gcc3) - 1Password 4.0.1 - Adblock Plus 2.4.0.3731 - Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus 1.2.3 - Extension List Dumper 1.15.2 - Instapaper For firefox 0.1 - No Youtube Comments 0.1.3 - Sheep Systems Firefox Extension 295 This happens all over the place. Not a specific URL. It happened e.g. on MacUpdate, other software sites, LibreOffice, you name it. That's what I meant: It might be a local glitch, but it's driving me nuts and I don't know what else to try. I can offer TeamViewer Access if anybody wants to investigate this.

Okay: How about running in safe mode to see if an addon is to blame? Try running with a clean profile following the directions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode .

Initial report: "This is what I've tried so far: * change download folder location * create new user profile" so new profile is already covered. If save mode works I know what? That a plugin is to blame? And then what? Uninstall them one by one?

I'm afraid so. Once you figure out which addon is causing it, you can report to the addon author, but I'm afraid there's not a simple way to discover which one is giving you grief. Try it in safe mode first, then you can cross the uninstall bridge if necessary.

Bad news. I just ran into this exact problem while being in safe mode (i.e. all add-ons disabled). So this def is a Firefox and not an addon issue.

Then we're out of my pay grade, and the module owner will have to look at this. Sorry!
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 Build ID: 20131010180222 Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0 Build ID: 20131015004002 Works fine for me on the latest Aurora and Firefox 25 beta 7. Foss, do you get any errors while having the issue? How often are you experiencing this issue?
Flags: needinfo?(foss)
Hi Simona, this happens several times a day. Often a restart resolves the problem. But it's not related to add-ons since, as I said already, it happens in safe-mode as well. Not sure how to investigate this, since I don't get any error at all. I get asked if I want to store a certain file and if I click save file or whatever that button says the download does not start, also I don't see the file when clicking the download button. All I see is the option to "show all downloads" and yet when visiting my downloads folder I see the file in question but with 0 bytes. If any of you is in IRC I could hop on that channel and let you have a look via teamviewer if that might be of help.

Setting to Resolved. This is no longer an issue with Firefox 26 stable.
