Steps to reproduce:
Create New Event
Populate Title, Start/End Times
Click Invite Attendees & add addresses & click OK
(Notify Attendees checkbox is checked but grayed out)
Click Save and Close
Actual results:

Double-click to reopen event and no attendees are listed
Expected results:
Email invite goes out to invited attendees and appears on their calendars.
Reopening event shows attendees listed.

What version of Lightning do you use?
If the Notify Attendees checkbox is disabled it might mean that your calendar doesn't support invitations. Or maybe you did not configured an email account that should be used with the calendar?

I'm using Thunderbird 24.0.1 with Lightning 2.6
I'm using a GMail, so should not have an issue with invitations...especially since (as far as I can remember) I did not have an issue doing this in earlier versions.

This is still an issue with Thunderbird 24.1.0 and Lightning 2.6.2. Anyone have any ideas about how to fix?

If you're using Google Calendar provider, it does not support invitation. I don't know if it ever did, but these days it doesn't. Could you remember if (and when) this worked in earlier versions (which version)?

I do remember it working *before* Lightning v2.6, but honestly cannot remember which version.
Yes, I am using Provider for Google Calendar v0.25, but I was using that before Lightning 2.6 as well.

Sorry, I was too fast here. This is not a duplicate of bug 938459, but there are several other candidates:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?list_id=9793306&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=invitation&resolution=---&resolution=DUPLICATE&query_format=advanced&component=Provider%3A%20GData&product=Calendar
If you use CalDAV with your Google Calendar, invitations should work as expected (at least once 2.6.5 is out).

There has been a major rewrite of the Provider for Google Calendar between version 0.32 and 1.0. A vast number of bugs have been fixed during this rewrite, therefore I am closing lots of old bugs that I think might either be fixed or no longer apply to the latest version.
Please read the updated FAQ [1] for details on known issues. If you can reproduce your issue with the latest version of the Provider for Google Calendar and you can't find an existing bug that handles your case, please reopen this issue.
Thank you for your understanding.
