We have one occurrence (legally required) of this character and it is too big in the results.

Should be smaller.

This is because search results strip html tags from descriptions of each result item. In this case, the ́"®" symbol is written as superscript in the original page, but it is stripped off the <sup> tags in the search result.

Enabling html tags for search result item descriptions can break layout of the search result page. If this is still seen a pressing/valid issue, then we may allow only <sup> tags to be allowed. I don't know if that will be possible though, and they solution may become overkill.

My question: is this bug really that important?

This really shouldn't be a launch blocker.  If it's used on one page, and only via search, I question its importance as a whole.

David+1 - is this really a launch blocker, or just an accident of the way the dependency tree is lining up. There's quite a few of these small visual bugs showing up in the redesign launch blockers now.

This one is not a launch blocker, it went to the dependency tree when all the meta about search went as a blocker (as the search is completely useless right now, though work is in progress). We should go through all these search bug when we the big problem of the search are solved.
